Our Approach

British EYFS Curriculum

We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage framework — a holistic, play-based approach that nurtures every aspect of your child's development.

How We Learn

Learning That Feels Like Play

Five Kids Nursery follows the British EYFS curriculum, which is based on seven major areas of learning. We emphasise communication, physical development, and personal and social learning — the foundations children need to express critical thinking and build essential life skills.

  • We encourage children to become independent and self-confident and make positive relationships with their peers and adults — critical for success in all areas of learning.

  • Five Kids Nursery provides a language-rich learning environment giving children opportunities for speaking, listening and sharing their ideas and feelings.

  • Gross motor skills include running, climbing, jumping and riding tricycles. Fine motor skills are developed using play dough, paint, crayons, scissors and puzzles.

  • Through listening to stories and sharing wide-ranging books, children develop a love of reading. They learn letter shapes and sounds through songs, rhymes and our Jolly Phonics programme.

  • Children work with numbers, shapes, space and measures. Counting, sorting and matching through structured play builds a strong foundation in early mathematics.

  • Children are encouraged to explore and investigate materials and question how things work — forming the foundation for later science, history, geography and ICT.

  • Creativity is fundamental to successful learning. Children share their thoughts through art, music, movement, dance and imaginative role-play activities.

A Five Kids Promise

Through our British EYFS curriculum — enriched with arts, outdoor play, language development, and cultural exploration — we nurture each child's confidence, curiosity, and love for learning in a warm, home-away-from-home environment.

01What is the British EYFS curriculum?

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the UK framework for children from birth to five. It guides learning through play across seven areas: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language; physical development; literacy; mathematics; understanding the world; and expressive arts and design.

02How do children learn in the EYFS at Five Kids Nursery?

Through play-based, hands-on activities — stories, songs, sensory play, outdoor exploration, arts and crafts — planned around each child’s interests and stage of development.

03Does Five Kids Nursery teach Arabic and Islamic values?

Yes. Alongside the EYFS, children enjoy Arabic language sessions and our Little Muslims Programme, which introduces Islamic values in a gentle, age-appropriate way.

04How do children start learning to read?

Through stories, books, songs and rhymes, children develop a love of reading. They learn letter shapes and sounds with our Jolly Phonics programme.

05Is the EYFS the same as Montessori?

No. The EYFS is the British early years framework with seven areas of learning. Like Montessori, it values hands-on, child-led play. Read how EYFS and Montessori compare.

06How does the EYFS prepare my child for school?

The EYFS builds the foundations children need for primary school — confidence, communication, early literacy and numeracy, independence and getting along with others.
