Joyful Isra Al Miraj Celebration at Five Kids Nursery

Joyful Isra Al Miraj Celebration at Five Kids Nursery

Five Kids Nursery’s hallways are often full of laughter, nursery rhymes and the busy hustle-bustle of learning but earlier this week there was something extra-magical in the air as students, staff and community joined together to commemorate Isra Al Miraj.

Religious and cultural celebrations for young children can be transformative experiences filled with sensory play, stories and shared emotions. At Five Kids Nursery, we believe celebrating these occasions is crucial for holistic development as it establishes their roots while stimulating imaginations.

Setting the Scene: A Morning of Tradition

Our festivities began as soon as children entered. Instead of their usual play clothes or uniforms, many arrived wearing stunning traditional attire from crisp Kanduras for our little boys and colorful Jalabiyas with intricate embroidery designs for our girl students turn our nursery into an eclectic mosaic of culture.

Our team worked diligently to set the mood by decorating classrooms and common areas to visually represent the essence of “The Night Journey.” Dark blue fabrics draped from ceilings were draped like night skies adorned with glittering silver and gold stars; soft lighting created a relaxing yet lively ambience, distinguishing this special day from any typical school day.

    Creativity Aboard: Arts and Crafts

Five Kids Nursery believes strongly in learning through doing. Our Isra Al Miraj celebration featured art stations designed to reinforce story content while simultaneously developing fine motor skills. Utilizing black construction paper and sponges dipped in silver and gold paint, children used sponges soaked with this sensory activity to recreate galaxies of stars from a story they read aloud. By doing so, this activity allowed children to discover textures as well as cause-and-effect while recreating its setting.

Another class focused on the architectural beauty associated with this event. These crafts serve two important functions. First, they’re an engaging way of celebrating; secondly, they create tangible “take-home” memories which trigger conversations when parents pick their child back up after school providing a bridge between school learning and family life.

    Introduce the Beauty of Prayer

At our center, we created a peaceful space with child-sized prayer mats to foster comfort for young learners. Instead of rigid instruction or memorization, the children were invited to sit on these mats while teachers demonstrated various movements associated with prayer such as standing, bowing and prostrating in an effort to show children this is how communicates and grants peace to humanity.

Viewing children imitate these movements so innocently and sincerity was truly touching for our staff. Their joy in doing this normalized prayer practice as part of daily life instead of something cumbersome to endure.

    The Joy of Sharing

At our Sharjah Nursery, no celebration would be complete without food! In keeping with Isra Al Miraj’s spirit of generosity and community building, we organized a shared snack time. Parents were extremely generous, sending in traditional sweets and treats from home for their students’ enjoyment. Sitting together and breaking bread together serves as an empowering social lesson: teaching children hospitality, sharing and celebrating eating as part of community life.

At this stage of our event, we played soft background audio which added an ambience of peace. Children enjoyed snacking on treats while discussing with their peers their costumes or stories from earlier that day.

Why Cultural Celebrations Matter in Early Years

    You might ask why a nursery invests so much effort and attention in religious-themed festivities for such young children; the answer lies within its educational philosophy. Culture and values form an essential foundation of an individual’s identity;

by celebrating events like Isra Al Miraj we aim to foster this foundation for children.

Building Identity: Encouraging children to take pride in who they are and where they come from Fostering. Belonging: Ensuring every student feels included within their school community.
Attracting Diverse Children: For children from various cultural backgrounds attending our nursery, celebrations like Eid Al Adha offer them an introduction into the vibrant UAE culture and Islamic religion – encouraging respect and tolerance from an early age.
Once school was over and parents arrived to collect their little ones, the response from children and parents alike was absolutely heart-warming. Children excitedly displayed their star-inspired artwork while offering up different versions of Buraq’s story that resonated strongly.

A Day of Reflection and Happiness

Five Kids Nursery’s celebration of Isra Al Miraj was an enormously rewarding one, not simply in terms of activities or décor; rather it created an ambiance of peace, reflection, and pure childhood joy that transcended everything that happened on that day.

At Sharjah Nursery we take great pleasure in being an institution where these values can flourish and be celebrated, looking forward to many more occasions where we can learn, grow and celebrate together.
